Sometimes life's big lessons come in small packages.

I meant to write about this yesterday when it happened but I guess its better late than never. Yesterday my son came home with a not so good report from school. He got a 3 for the day, which means that he was warned at least 2 times about something. So after, we had a serious and stern heart to heart he says, "Mami, I need to go in my room and do something in private." I said, 'fine just make it quick.' He was gone for about 5 minutes when I decided to check on him. I had my 'mean' Mom walk going, my face was stern, my voice was getting ready to be as loud as humanly possible because I was certain he was up to no good. As I approach his door, I'm forced to stop myself when I see him reading his Bible and praying. I walked away, shocked, glad, and overjoyed. I said a silent prayer in thanks to God for giving me a child that knows that in times of need, even when Mom is being the 'punisher' he can always look to God for reasurrance and guidance, and called him back to the table for homework.

I just wanted to share this with you because it put in perspective for me that if a 6 year old can sneak away for 5 minutes and read the Bible and pray with God then so can I. God has a funny way of talking to us, and he spoke to me through my son. Create- a relationship with God, make time to pray & read the Word. You will see how it will change your life.

Blessings,

Cristina

  1. God really does have an interesting way of speaking to us. Sometimes we get so caught up in the craziness surrounding us day to day that we forget to listen. Even in the most painful moments of our lives if you really listen you can understand the reasons. You can't believe in God if you don't believe God. A friend of mine told me that the other day and it stuck with me.

Cristian is such a great kid. I miss him so much and love that he is able to find comfort and guidance in his faith.
